Another Lisette Pattern

This 13 inch SFBJ Paris incassable I restored recently is the perfect size to wear patterns
published by Lisette magazine, the girls' publication that rivalled La Semaine de Suzette.
She is wearing a 1926 costume Un Joli Papillion, A Pretty Butterfly.
Costumes like this were worn for parties at New Year's Eve,
Mardis Gras, Mi Careme, and other festive occasions.

Bleuette Loves Coats

Here are some coats made from LSDS patterns, 1905 to 1919, in chronological order.
Coats (which often had coordinating hats) were the most expensive items
in the G-L catalog of Bleuette's ready made wardrobe.
Fortunately, the readers of La Semaine de Suzette could make their own coats and hats
for Bleuette using the published patterns.

Working with Ribbon

It's pretty, colorful, has finished edges that don't ravel, and everyone probably has some--so what's not to like?  Reproduction 60 Bleuette and UF 301- 1&1/4 Bleuette are wearing ribbon skirt dresses that have fabric tops.

Comfortable Clothes for School and Play

It was fun to dress up, but now the Bleuettes have returned to comfortable clothes.

They are wearing print and check versions of the pre-catalog school smock/dress which was offered for sale in 1906 at the G-L offices.  It was advertised in La Semaine de Suzette.  The school smock was made in a dark color which would not show ink stains.

At the same time, 1906, a pattern for a school smock with embroidery was offered to the Suzettes to sew for Bleuette.  Again, a dark color was recommended.

In 1927 this pattern for a school smock/dress was published in La Semaine de Suzette.  Lighter colors were now possible since pencils were used in school rather than pens.  This one had short sleeves, no waist, and an inset panel of pleats.  The school bag pattern was published in the following issue.

By the 1930s the G-L catalog school smock would be made of gingham and have a natural waist, but the yoke and the long sleeves with cuffs made a come-back.  This school smock continued to be sold into the 1950s.

It was great party!

Colette Agnes played "Happy Birthday" on the guitar for everyone to sing, and then they cut the cake.  Happy Birthday, Bleuette! The year is off to a good start.

Bleuette Birthday "Step and Repeat" Backdrop

It's Bleuette's Birthday soon, and there should really be a red carpet entrance to the party, so the press can make the most of all the party-goers in their party dresses.  Would you like to try this at home with your Bleuettes?

Here is a link to a repeat banner and a central birthday banner for you to print on standard 8.5" by 11" size paper, photo paper, or cardstock.  Mine are on matte photo paper attached to a white foam board.  I used two repeat banners and a central banner, but you could also just use the repeat banner, if you like, printed two or three times.  The links will go to my shared files on Google Drive, where you can click on the download arrow to save the pdf  for each of them to your computer.

Have fun!

New Year, New Decade for Bleuette

Bleuette has been through the twenties before,  some even call the 1920s the golden age of Bleuette, but now she has a chance to make her mark on the 2020s, in this new year and new decade.

Premier Bleuette, Lili, is about to put on her coat and make some New Year's Day calls on friends and neighbors.  Have a happy year, Bleuette!
